Microsoft has de-supported their Windows Live Essentials package, including Windows Live Movie Maker, and they've removed the download link from their web site. The old download page now simply says, "Note / Windows Essentials 2012 suite reached end of support on January 10, 2017," and the download link is gone.

That's so typical for Microsoft:  create something pretty good, declare it to be "essential," and then remove it.

However, to their credit, they open-sourced one of the "Live Essentials" programs: Live Writer. You can get it here:  https://github.com/OpenLiveWriter/OpenLiveWriter

If you use Windows 10, then the "Windows 10 Movie Creator App" is an alternative for Windows Live Movie Maker, though most users seem to prefer the old one. You can get the Windows 10 Movie Creator App for free, here:
